Puppy Mill Awareness Day of Texas

The ninth annual Puppy Mill Awareness Day of Texas (PMAD TX) will take place on Sunday, September 30. The event aims to bring awareness to the problem of puppy mills throughout the state, while encouraging local residents to adopt and not shop for their next companion animal. PMAD TX will feature more than 30 dog rescue groups with adoptable animals available, wiener dog races with the Central Texas Dachshund Rescue, a “Blessing of the Animals,” live music and giveaways, vendors and more.
Puppy Mill Awareness Day will begin with a heartwarming “Blessing of the Animals” by Cedar Park Police and Austin Police Chaplain Rabbi Marie Betcher. The event will continue with live music from Russell Mayes, wiener dog races with the Central Texas Dachshund Rescue and giveaways.
Additionally, the awareness event will feature more than 30 animal rescue organizations with dogs available for adoption. On-site rescue groups will include PAWS of Austin Great Dane Rescue, Austin Dog Rescue, Lizzy’s Animal Hospice, and many others.
The 2018 Puppy Mill Awareness Day event is free and open to the public. Leashed, well behaved pets are welcome to attend.
