Psychiatric Advance Directives: the Good, the Bad, the Possible

February 26 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm - Free

Psychiatric Advance Directives, sometimes referred to as either PADs or mental health advance directives, offer the opportunity for competent persons living with mental illness to provide information regarding their wishes and preferences for treatment in the event that a mental health crisis prevents them from collaborating in their care. Please join us in this talk about use of these directives in the state of Texas. Participants will learn about the benefits and potential limitations of the use of PADs in Texas, what it means to name a health care proxy/agent. Q&A session to follow presentation.

This event is part of our monthly Mind Matters event series that brings mental health experts and advocates together to share information, tools and experience with the goal of advancing our community’s understanding of mental illness and increasing awareness of the resources available.

Mind Matters events are free and open to the public and are typically held on the fourth Monday of each month.

We ask that you be sensitive to our location and not attend if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms.
