Mixer Media Workshop Series: Graphite with Ashley Thomas

June 18, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Mexic-Arte Museum is proud to host the Mixer Media Workshop Series, a rotating artist workshop presented by participating artists from the current Young Latino Artists 20: Within Reach exhibition. Artists will hone their skills within three disciplines: drawing, painting, and printmaking. Incorporating styles and techniques from the current Young Latino Artists 20: Within Reach exhibition, Mixer Media provides straight-forward arts instruction to artists of all levels along with wine and other refreshments every third Thursday of the summer months.

Ashley Thomas is a graphite and collage artist whose work indexes traces of the feminine in material culture and aims to give cultural detritus the solidity and permanency that it lacks as source material. She received a Master of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2011. Her work has been shown nationally and has appeared in New American Paintings in 2008 and 2014. She currently lives and works in Austin, Texas.
