Juan Carlos Amorrortu, Kalee M Espitia and Juan Villegas watch visitors just as profoundly as they watch them. This exhibition is intentionally placed during the month in which the veil is thinnest. Artists will be in attendance for the opening event. If the gazes from the canvas were not enough to entrance, the stories behind many of them are moving, funny, or even heartbreaking. The event will feature Adam Koch playing upright double bass and artists in attendance. The night will be replete with refremshments, with beer from local brewery and restaurant Black Star Coop, and iced coffee and treats by Fat Cats Organic Coffee & Desserts (a perfect little cafe serving up the curators’ favorite ice cream and gluten-free treats!). This is a FREE event, and a portion of the proceeds go to Mobile Loaves & Fishes, a remarkable organization with more than 19,000 volunteers working to feed the homeless and the hungry in Austin.
