Minor Mishap on the Water! – Watch From Lou Neff Point
August 31, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Wednesday, August 31st
6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Please join Minor Mishap Marching Band for a canoe show!
This show is free and open to all.
>>>>> It’s easy and free to watch this show from land Lou Neff Point <<<<<
In case of rain or thunderstorms, this show will, unfortunately, have to be canceled. It’s not possible to do it in the rain.
HOW TO WATCH FROM LAND:
Just head to Lou Neff Point for the best view! We are hoping to do most of the show right there at Lou Neff, so it is easy for those on the shore to participate fully.
There is quite a bit of easy parking on Lou Neff Road. Access to the Hike and Bike Trail is near Barton Springs Rd, then turn left and walk toward the Point. The Point itself is steep, and there is not access from the road to the Point near the point – it is better accessed up the trail near Barton Springs Rd.
HOW TO WATCH IN A BOAT:
If you want to rent a boat:
Zilker Boat Rentals, on Barton Creek, 2101 Andrew Zilker Rd, will be open and is ready to rent you canoes, kayaks and paddleboards! YAY. We recommend coming early to rent a boat, so you can be comfortably on the water before our flotilla launches. They have very reasonable rates ($15 an hour!). Please note:
>>>>> They are CASH ONLY <<<<<<<
>>>>> They do not take reservations <<<<<
We’re sorry they can’t take reservations, but they have generously offered to help us with this event, and we really appreciate their involvement! We are also launching from there, so you will be right in the middle of everything! All rental boats must be returned by 8 pm – which will be basically right after the show ends. If you want extra time to paddle, please come early and do it ahead of time.
If you are bringing your own boat:
You probably want to launch from the drainage ditch near Texas Rowing Center, on Stephen F Austin Dr. The show will occur at Lou Neff Point, where Barton Creek meets Ladybird Lake. Please DO NOT try to launch from Zilker Boat Rentals – it will be a madhouse – we are launching from there, and everyone renting boats is launching from there. You will have a better time launching elsewhere and paddling over to us.
ABSOLUTELY NO SWIMMING! Y’all- please don’t swim around the boats. It’s super dangerous and we reeeeeeeeally don’t want anyone to get hurt.
>>>>>You need to be on shore, or in a boat – a canoe, a kayak, a paddleboard. (Floaty pool toys, tubes, air-matresses- those are not boats, friends).<<<<<
We care about your safety. We also care that things are done legally, and it’s not legal to swim in the Lake. Please wear life jackets and stay sober, too. Thanks for cooperating so that we can continue to do shows like this.
