The Longest Day: Light Yourself Purple for Alzheimer’s Awareness
June 21, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm - Free
Join The Trail Foundation and the Alzheimer’s Association: Capital of Texas Chapter for The Longest Day, an event to raise Alzheimer’s awareness, on June 21st from 8-9 pm.
We ask everyone to meet at the top of the James D. Pfluger Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge at 8pm. The event will begin with a short sunset ceremony where Linda Jenkins, a former caretaker who recently published a memoir on her experience, will give a short speech. Following the sunset ceremony, everyone will light themselves purple and volunteers from Team TTF will lead groups on a 1.5 mile sunset walk around the Trail.
We would love for everyone to wear purple in support of the Alzheimer’s Association, and we will provide purple glow sticks to light ourselves during the walk in a moving meditation along the Trail. Many Trail users know the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of the Trail – we are doing what we love to raise Alzheimer’s awareness.
