Join The Zilker Docents
August 22, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join The Zilker Botanical Garden Docents!
Zilker Docents share the magic and history of Zilker Botanical Garden with hundreds of school children and adults every year. We are always seeking new volunteers to join us for future tours as well as other fun garden events and activities throughout the year. All Zilker Docents will be trained, so experience in gardening or teaching is not necessary, just the love for “The Jewel In The Heart Of The City” is required.
For more information, call 512-477-8672, ext. 14 or email email@example.com.
Aug. 22 10-12 Docent Meeting “Tricks of the Trade” advice from teachers, facilitated by Sue King. Let us know what tricks have helped you to lead an effective tour!
Sept. – no meetings scheduled, but we can do docent training tours any time when requested once it gets cooler!
Oct. 24 10-12 Docent Meeting “An Artist’s View of ZBG” with Alisan Clarke. Local artist and AAGC Historian Alisan Clarke will teach us how to use viewfinders to see different scenes of nature as created by Zilker garden designers. Alisan gave this program 6 years ago, pointing out the views that we miss in our rush to “see everything” and meet the school bus on time. Bring your camera!
Nov. 21 10-1 Docent meeting “Plant Identification” and decorate docent Christmas tree.
Dec. 19 Deliver gifts for Blue Santa! Docent Margarine Beaman has been on their board for several years, and we decided to join her in volunteering for this worthwhile cause in lieu of a December meeting. More info to come.
