Chilean Reggae Rock Legends GONDWANA, a 9-piece Latin powerhouse complete with horns, are bringing it to Flamingo Cantina for a night of high-energy Reggae En Español!
Chile’s GONDWANA has been spreading the word of Jah Love for 25 years. Emerging from the Latin root in reggae, Gondwana brings forth a fresh blend of Latin and Jamaican rhythms. With pulsating energy and a smooth sound, seven polished musicians are the soul of Chile’s number one reggae band today. Charismatic lead vocalist and guitarist, Quique Neira combined with bassist I-Locks Labbe, forms the band’s songwriting duo, while all of the members, including Keno “Fingaman” Valenzuela on keyboards and back-up vocals, Alexcy Cardenas on drums, Gato Ramos on saxophone, Pez Lopez on guitar, and Pato Luca on trumpet are responsible for musical arrangements. Spirit moving falsetto notes, bubbling bass and hard drums, tight horns and guitars with the ability to move with ease in a sound ranging from calypso to hard rock; are the skillful ingredients found in the highly acclaimed Gondwana.Produced by Dr. Dread of RAS Records, Gondwana’s self-titled debut album, Together, initially available only in Chile through BMG, is now on RAS label as well. Two singles, “Chainga Langa” and “Armonia de Amor” have gone to number one, with a third, “Sentimento Original” reaching the top five in Chile. All three songs are supported by inspiring music videos. With songs of love, social commentary, and spiritual praise, Gondwana reveals positive messages that serve as an uplifting vibration for fans of all musical genres. Already superstars in their native Chile, Gondwana has been gaining very enthusiastic fans throughout the world one by one. From humble beginnings in La Pincoya, a Northern Santiago ghetto, to a leading position in Chilean pop music, Gondwana has remained true to their original posture, standing tall and strong in a peace-loving position of musical and lyrical creation.
