Commons Ford Monthly Field Trip
January 31, 2016 @ 7:30 am - 11:30 am
Join Deb and Lee Wallace for one of our popular monthly field trips. Lots of interesting and less common birds have been reported at the Park this fall. Come see if they stick around for the winter! We can count on lots of sparrows enjoying our restoration efforts in the prairie–a dozen or more species is possible. There’s lots of variety here in the winter, with a 40 species morning being a distinct possibility. Also, the park offers one of the few places in the county with the possibility of hearing Northern Bobwhite and Wild Turkey in the dead of winter.
We will do a considerable amount of walking on this field trip so be prepared, although it’s all level ground. We will also likely bushwhack into the prairie (although not required) so be prepared for that as well if you want to participate in it. Bring your binoculars, snacks and drinks. Further details will be provided to participants closer to the field trip date.
If you would like to learn more about the prairie restoration project at Commons Ford Ranch Metropolitan Park, please visit http://www.commonsfordpro.blogspot.com, see a pictorial display at http://www.flickr.com/photos/commonsfordpro or to donate to CFPRO go to http://www.tinyurl.com/commonsford. The field trip is free but please consider a charitable donation in support of the ongoing restoration efforts.
Registration is limited to 15 participants. These field trips fill early, so if you are interested please make your reservation as soon as possible. For more information or to be added to the waitlist if the trip is full, contact Deb Wallace at [email protected].
