Color Bars: Jeongho Park
August 10, 2015 @ 11:30 am - 12:00 pm
Curatorial research associate Jeongho Park will have 20 minutes to convince you why four paintings by mostly unknown Renaissance painter Cambiaso are, in fact, important works of art. Can he do it?
In this Periscope tour, you’ll learn about Luca Cambiaso, a major artist you’ve probably never heard of. Even though he played a fundamental role in the development of Renaissance painting in Genoa, Italy, he’s not the best known painter even to many art historians. Jeongho Park will talk about four of Cambiaso’s works from the Blanton’s collection, which are rare examples of the master’s paintings outside the Italian city. It’s gonna be awesome.
You might be asking yourself, “but how can I see this tour? What if I don’t live in Austin? What if I don’t even live in Texas? Or the country?” Never fear, we’ve got you covered. You can tune in to the talk using Periscope, the live-streaming app beloved by tech journalists and self-involved bloggers everywhere. You’ll be able to watch the tour from the comfort of your desktop, mobile phone, or tablet. Do you need help getting going with Periscope? Try going here for starters: https://www.periscope.tv/
Now you’re probably asking yourself, “that’s all well and good, but how will I get to this tour when the time comes? This is so confusing.” Again with the questions. That’s why we’ve created this nice little RSVP page. Click the “Going” button, and 10 minutes before the tour starts on Friday, you’ll get a notification on Facebook with instructions and a URL to access the stream. Won’t that be convenient? The answer is yes. See you on Monday!
