CHILDREN IN HISTORY: GOING BACK TO SCHOOL IN THE MID-1800’s

It’s September and the beginning of a brand new school year! Learn old time weather sayings that pioneers used to help forecast the weather and see which signs of changing weather you can find throughout the Botanical Garden.
Tour the Swedish cabin and see the Esperanza Schoolhouse to learn some new pioneer skills and practice calligraphy. Fashion a feather quill pen and write a letter to a loved one on antiqued paper, complimented with natural inks derived from local plants and resources and then seal it with a traditional wax seal stamp as the icing on the cake!

*This PARD event takes place rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, the program will continue 30 minutes after the last sign of thunder or lightening

Free with Garden entry, $2 adults/$1 children/seniors
