ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Mercury Nashville recording artist EASTON CORBIN is the most successful new artist in country music in the last year. The native of rural Gilchrist County, Fla., is being lauded for his traditional country sound, authentic lyrics and mastery of understatement. USA Today says Easton “is a country music throwback with an easygoing, old-school style.” He is the first country male artist in 17 years to have his first two consecutive singles reach No. 1 — “A Little More Country Than That” and “Roll With It.” Easton won all of the Breakthrough Artist awards at the 2010 American Country Awards: Artist of the Year: Breakthrough Artist, Single of the Year: Breakthrough Artist and Music Video: Breakthrough Artist for “A Little More Country Than That.” Billboard named him as the Top New Country Artist of 2010.
On September 25, Sea Gayle/Arista Nashville’s JERROD NIEMANN Released “Drink To That All Night,” the first single from High Noon, his upcoming album scheduled for release on March 25. Currently Top 15 and climbing the country charts, the up-tempo party anthem is the follow-up to his trio of hits from his acclaimed album, Judge Jerrod & The Hung Jury, which include “One More Drinkin’ Song,” the Gold-certified “What Do You Want,” and the Platinum No. 1 single, “Lover, Lover.” His sophomore release, Free The Music, hit shelves last year and featured the Top 15 single “Shinin’ On Me” and the poignant ballad “Only God Could Love You More.” Niemann has quickly become a fan and industry favorite, earning award nominations from the ACM, CMA, CMT and the American Country Awards, while headlining his own shows and touring with such artists as Dierks Bentley and Brad Paisley. “Before it was Austin, our hometown was called Waterloo,” WATERLOO REVIVAL’s Cody Cooper explains. “Eventually, it was renamed to honor the ‘Father of Texas’ Stephen F. Austin.”
“It seems like Austin music has been contained to Austin and is not being pushed out,” bandmate George Birge adds. “We wanted to be Waterloo Revival in order to bring Austin music back to the rest of the world.”
People of the self-proclaimed “Live Music Capital of the World” agreed. In 2013, the pair was able to raise the funds to record a five-song EP.
Continuing that momentum, Waterloo Revival channeled their entrepreneurial musicianship into more writing sessions, commuting to Nashville over the next year to hone their craft and acquaint themselves with Music City. “Hit the Road,” a product from one of their first Nashville sessions, encompassed both Cody and George’s quest to spread Austin’s music scene across the country. It was only fitting that the two set out with this song to take the next step in their careers. Waterloo Revival began sampling tunes during Nashville songwriter showcases, adopting Music City as their new home. They soon caught the ear of Big Machine Label Group President and CEO Scott Borchetta and inked a deal with Big Machine Records a week later. “Hit the Road” is currently being introduced to Country radio and has received an overwhelming positive response from both programmers and critics.
