ACC Summer Dance Informance

July 3, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm - Free

The ACC Dance Department presents it annual Summer Informance, Tuesday, July 3rd at 7:00pm. The event is free. The Summer Informance is an opportunity for ACC to highlight choreography from up and coming choreographers as well as seasoned veterans.

Featured choreographers include Roman Morgan, formally of the Kathy Dunn Hamrick Dance Company and now dancing with Blue Lapis Light, Oluwaseun Olayiwola, a graduate of the UT dance program, Tanya Winters of BodyShift performing a solo, Lindsey Gerson, a recent graduate of Texas State’s department of Theater and Dance, and ACC faculty member, Darla Johnson who directs and also has a new work in the show.

Morgan’s work deals with anxiety and the pervasive apprehension felt when one thinks they are missing out on something.

Olayiwola’s work is experimenting with a methodology that utilizes the vocalization of  stream-of- consciousness and ephemeral language. These vocal and auditory stimuli are used to form a research laboratory investigating how the body changes in real time.

Winter’s dance reflects on “Who Am I Now”  and seeks to explore the capacity of the human spirit. A solo journey through Cerebral Palsy, scoliosis and spasticity, this dance investigates the definition of disability while challenging body image stereotypes and what it means to be a woman.

Gerson’s duet looks at a relationship that has evolved and continues to grow through time. Her dance film is exploring movement inspired by a piece of Japanese pottery.

Johnson is exploring the waves and tides of relationships through human interaction and beach balls.
