5th Annual Austin Duck Derby

August 4 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm - Free

The Fifth Annual Austin Duck Derby will make a big splash for a good cause on Saturday, Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Presented by Austin Sonic Drive-Ins, the signature derby race will begin at 11 a.m. launch of more than 17,000 eco-friendly rubber ducks into Lady Bird Lake from the Ann. W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge. The quacky event will also feature a mix of tasty food for savoring, music for shaking those tail feathers and other family-friendly activities in the grassy area and parking lot between the lake and the Austin American-Statesman.

Austinites are invited to participate by adopting a duck to compete in the race (all adoptions are facilitated online starting June 1), with great prizes to be awarded to top-finishing ducks. The community is encouraged to adopt one duck or a family of ducks. Proceeds will benefit the Austin Boys and Girls Clubs Foundation, a nonprofit that provides assistance and scholarships to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area—ensuring that local youth who need us most can reach their full potential to become productive, caring and responsible citizens.
