2017 Public Art Celebration in Bastrop

June 17, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm - Free

Bastrop Art in Public Places (BAIPP) will unveil new 2D and 3D art installations at the 2017 Public Arts Celebration Saturday, June 17. The public is invited to attend the free event, which celebrates local Texas artists by displaying new artwork throughout Bastrop’s historic downtown.

An awards ceremony will be held to recognize top artists in the area following the public reception and unveiling of several miniature bronze sculptures for a new Toads in Town Project, completed by sculptor and owner of Deep in the Heart Art Foundry Clint Howards.

Other projects include the Downtown Bastrop Sculpture Project, Transformer Mural Art Project and International Yarn Bombing Day, a yarn installation themed after the Wizard of Oz that will be unveiled in Fisherman’s Park June 11.

From 11 a.m. to noon, enjoy the public reception at the Bastrop Public Library. Following the ceremony, guests can go on a self-guided art tour from noon to 2 p.m. Maps for the tour will be available at the Bastrop Public Library and Bastrop Visitor Center.
