You Don’t Want To Miss These John Prine Tributes

Legendary folk singer-songwriter John Prine died this week due to complications of COVID-19. Winner of this year’s lifetime achievement Grammy, Prine inspired many a musician in Austin. In fact, Austin 360 recounted statements from a slew of local musicians made on social media regarding his passing.

This mural by Wiley Ross Art at the Thundercloud Subs on Riverside Drive was actually painted a couple of years ago, though it’s a fitting tribute then, now, and always.

Speaking of fitting tribute, Brandi Carlile honored Prine by performing “Hello In There” from her home on Wednesday night’s episode “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

Excuse me while I wipe away this tear.

You can pay further tribute to Prine by streaming his last performance on “Austin City Limits,” currently free on the PBS app.
