Forklift Danceworks and Austin’s African American Cultural Heritage District are proud to announce the premiere of Play Ball, the latest collaboration from Allison Orr and Forklift Danceworks. Play Ball will be presented in three nightly performances – two of which are free – as part of District Days at Downs Field, a citywide celebration of historic Downs Field May 9 – 11, 2014.
District Days at Downs Field will be a weekend-long festival full of events and activities to help raise funds for much needed repairs and upgrades to historic Downs Baseball Field. Located in East Austin, Downs Field was once home to the Negro Baseball League’s Austin Black Senators and has seen the likes of baseball greats Satchel Paige, Willie Wells, Buck O’Neil and Jackie Robinson.
