Bridges to Growth – Free Classes and Fun in Georgetown

Looking for fun playtime for your little one? Wanting to meet some new friends? Needing some parenting guidance or support? Bridges to Growth in Georgetown is the place to go! 

Bridges to Growth, located in the Georgetown Community Resource Center on University Avenue, offers playtime, parenting classes, a lending library, parent support, and more — all for free! 

Parenting is a tough job, and Bridges to Growth provides tools and resources to help parents feel more prepared to raise confident, healthy children in a loving and positive way.

Love and Logic Early Childhood Parenting Made Fun!™
5 week session: September 10, 17, 24, October 1, 8, 2014, from 6:30-8:30 pm

A five-part course for parents of young children to learn how to use empathy and Love and Logic to put an end to whining and arguing, gain tips for handling misbehavior in public, learn a proven plan for ending bedtime battles, and more. 

Learning Through Play

Wednesday, October 15, 6:30-8:30 pm

Play is the work of childhood! Learn the importance of play to your young child’s development and how to encourage learning through creative play and experiences.

Understanding Your Baby’s Communication

Wednesday, October 22, 6:30-8:30 pm

What is your baby trying to tell you? Learn to understand your baby’s cues and cries and how respond to meet your baby’s needs. 

Basic Parenting for Infants and Toddlers

Wednesday, October 29, 6:30-8:30 pm

Learn the basics! Gain tips on feeding your baby, sleep suggestions, how to keep your little one safe, and the importance of nurturing parent-child interaction from birth.

Encouraging Literacy in Toddlers and Preschoolers

Learn how to talk, listen, and play with toddlers and preschoolers to encourage language development and early literacy skills.

Toddler Issues: Tantrums, Aggression, and Potty Training

Stay Calm: Don’t Take It Out on the Kids/Bonding With Your Baby

Parenting can be frustrating! Learn how to keep your cool while dealing with the challenges of parenting. You’ll also learn about the importance of bonding with your infant and maintaining that bond as your child grows.

Toddler Time

Second and Fourth Wednesdays, 9:30-10:30 am

Come play! Join us for one fun-filled hour of unstructured play, story time, and sensory development for toddlers aged 9 months – 3 years. Parents or caregivers remain with their children for interactive play and networking with other parents.

Baby Time

First and third Wednesdays beginning in October, 10:00-11:00 am

Join us for one hour of stories, rhymes, and playtime with your baby, as well as support and discussion of important parenting topics. For babies aged 0-12 months and their caregivers. 

Parents’ Morning Out

Second Saturday morning of each month, 9:30-11:30 am

While parents enjoy some much-needed time to themselves, special needs children aged 2-5 years old will enjoy simple music and sensory, motor, and language activities. All volunteers have multiple years of experience working with young children with special needs, and the adult to child ratio is 1:1.

Lending Library

Mondays (starting September 15th), Tuesdays, and Wednesdays 10:00 am – 7:00 pm


You’ll find developmentally appropriate toys and books for young children, as well as a good selection of English and Spanish parenting resources. Items can be checked out free of charge for a three-week loan period.

Teacher Workroom

Mondays (starting September 15th), Tuesdays, and Wednesdays 10:00 am – 7:00 pm


Parents, you are your child’s first teacher! For a small fee, a workroom is available with a laminator, Die Cut/Cricut machines, and other resources to assist you in creating early learning resources for your preschooler.

Parent Talk Hotline, Referrals, and Family Counseling

Mondays (starting September 15th), Tuesdays, and Wednesdays 10:00 am – 7:00 pm

A free non-crisis hotline is available for parents of young children. Parents may call (512) 864-3008 and ask to speak to an early childhood parent educator. The parent educator is on site on Wednesdays by appointment. Low-cost family counseling is also available by appointment.

Family Support Group

The last Wednesday of the month, 6:30-8:30 pm

This support group is for bilingual or Spanish-speaking families, parents, grandparents, caregivers, and teachers. Join us for an open, confidential discussion to help with resolution of problems affecting the family.
