Austin Public Library Presents: Central Concerts

Jesse Sublett

Join the Austin Public Library for an intimate, entertaining concert in the stacks from local musician and author Jesse Sublett, on Saturday, June 13, 2015, from 2- 3 p.m. There will be a book signing to follow.

Jesse Sublett is the author of numerous novels and nonfiction books, including 1960s Austin Gangsters: Organized Crime that Rocked the Capital City, Sublett’s long-awaited, heavily-researched chronicle of the Timmy Overton Gang and the Dixie Mafia in Austin during the 1960s. Sublett is the author of several crime novels as well as last year’s nonfiction Broke, Not Broken: Homer Maxey’s Texas Bank War. Among the fans of Sublett’s murder-and-cancer memoir, Never the Same Again, was novelist James Ellroy, who called it “a harrowing work of great candor and soul.” Sublett has been a well-known figure in Austin ever since he founded the seminal 1970s rock band, The Skunks.
