Austin Powwow and American Indian Heritage Festival

The 23rd Annual Austin Powwow and American Indian Heritage Festival will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Toney Burger Center in Sunset Valley. Admission is a suggested donation of $3 for adults; free for kids under 12. Parking is free.

Hosted by Great Promise for American Indians, the Austin Powwow and American Indian Heritage Festival is the largest single-day powwow in the country, and also has one of the larger Indian Markets. This year, the market features more than 90 vendor booths. The Food Court, with ten vendors, offers a varied menu of traditional American Indian food items, including the ever popular Fry Bread and Navajo Tacos.

This annual event features outdoor storytelling, an American Indian dance contest, and more.  The Arena offers Grand Entry dancing at three times throughout the day, with an educational program accompanying the 10 a.m. Entry. Outside, you will find a Heritage Stage with a full day of cultural outreach programming.
