Austin’s Best Pet Friendly Events October 2019

Looking to spend some quality time with your furry friend this fall? Or perhaps you wish to be surrounded by dogs, cats, and even goats? Well, here you go. We’ve rounded up the best pet-friendly events happening in Austin all month long. Some are free. Some have fees. Some are for kids. Some are for adults. Because who doesn’t love animals? Be sure to click through for all the details on each event.

Yappy Hour at Stone Hill Dog Park (Pflugerville)
October 4 | from 6 to 9 p.m. | 1124 Town Center Drive, Pflugerville
Bring our your dogs for our pfirst Yappy Hour at Stone Hill Dog Park. The event is B.Y.O.B., and we will be bringing food vendors (Dog Pound and Lucy’s Frozen), Friends of the Pflugerville Animal Shelter, Doggieville Boutique, Chow Hound Raw and more! We’ll also be hosting a doggie Halloween costume contest and handing out prizes from area businesses. Contest Categories: Best Couple Costume – Matching with your dog, Who Brought the Scare? – Best classic Halloween costume, Barking Good Time – Best funny, cute or homemade costume. All winners will receive certificates or a gift basket from The Furbaby Sitter, Hip Hounds or Camp Bow Wow. When you arrive, sign up for the contest. Winners will be awarded at 7:30 p.m.

Landmark Dog Walks
October 6 | from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Monochrome for Austin, 2400 Speedway
Fetch your pooch and come to campus for the fifth annual Landmarks Dog Walk! Landmarks has partnered with Blue Dog Rescue and Austin Pets Alive! to present a docent-led public art dog walk. Dogs and owners will take a leisurely one-hour stroll around The University of Texas at Austin to appreciate some of its most stunning works of outdoor sculpture. Bring your dog, a leash, and plenty of waste bags to Nancy Rubins’ Monochrome for Austin on the corner of 24th and Speedway at 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 6th. Don’t have a four-legged friend? We will have some eligible canines looking for art-friendly homes! Please make sure your dog is well-behaved around people and other animals and up-to-date on vaccinations. There will be plenty of water stops along the tour route, and each guest will receive a special Landmarks frisbee! Free and open to the public.

Yappy Hour at Long Center
October 9 | from 5 to 8 p.m. | Long Center, 701 West Riverside
Come celebrate fall in Austin with all your furry friends at our first-ever Yappy Hour! Hang out with us after work from 5pm to 8pm for free music, pups, fun & more, benefiting Austin Pets Alive! Plus, enjoy: refreshing drinks from Tito’s Handmade Vodka, where Tito’s will donate $1 per drink to Austin Pets Alive! Nulo Pet Food, on-site serving up fresh treats-to-order
local food trucks and more dog-friendly activities, music by DJ Shani.

A Dog’s Dream Bluegrass Benefit Concert
October 10 | from 7 to 9 p.m. | Oskar Blues Brewery, 10420 Metric Boulevard, Suite 150
Enjoy an evening of bluegrass music, food, drinks, vendors, pups and more with our friends at Oskar Blues Brewery! Join in on this dog-friendly event with VIP admission for just $30 and enjoy exclusive access, drink ticket, swag bag, and more! For general admission, a donation of $15 can be made online or at the door. Either way, the River Boy bluegrass band will be here to make sure you have a great time. 100% of the proceeds will support the Austin Humane Society where we offer comprehensive, life-saving animal services, transforming the lives of animals and those who love them! The fun will kick-off at 7 p.m. and the music will start at 7:30 p.m.

Central Texas SPCA Barktoberfest (Cedar Park)
October 12 | from 7:30 to 10 a.m. | Brushy Creek Park, County Road 174 (Cedar Park)
This is the 3rd Annual Central Texas SPCA 5k Fun Run. Walk, run, or skip this beautiful course with or without your 4-legged friend. Your $30 registration goes to help support our dogs and cats as they await finding their furr-ever home, and includes a 2019 CTSPCA Barktoberfest t-shirt.

Cedar Bark Festival (Cedar Park)
October 12 | from 12 to 2:30 p.m. | Cedar Park Veteran’s Memorial Dog Park, 2525 W. New Hope Drive, Cedar Park
Admission is free. Bring your canines and enjoy vendors, entertainment and the Cedar Park Bark Park. Food concessions will be available. Enter your dog onsite for the costume contest or the owner/pet look alike contest. Contest sign up begins at 12:00 p.m., each contest is limited to 20 participants. Proceeds benefit Friends of Cedar Bark Park, a volunteer organization that improves the park through maintenance, service projects and donations for new additions.

Safe in Austin’s 2nd Annual Fall Family Fun Festival (Leander)
October 12 | from 1 to 4 p.m. | 14601 Honeycomb Drive, Leander
Critter kisses and Halloween wishes! Fall Family Fun Fest at Safe In Austin Rescue Ranch. Pumpkin Slime, Family Photo ops, Spooky Trail, Rock Painting, Face painting, Raffle drawings, Games, Trick or Treating Safe In Austin style, and lots of rescue animal snuggles. Get a chance to tour the property, hear about our mission and meet all the rescue animals that rescue children! Discover friendship and love beyond what you could ever imagine while creating fall filled family memories!! You are always welcome to bring fruits and veggies for our rescue animals to enjoy throughout the week! Carrots, apples, any kind of melon or berries, and pretty much any greens are loved by almost everyone! You can hike up to the top of the property for a breathtaking hill country view, take lots of pictures and help spread our mission of “saving lives and healing hearts”!

P&F Presents Pet-Toberfest

DogJoy Howl-O-Ween Pfest (Pflugerville)

Rooftop Puppy Yoga

Join for the cutest, bestest, stretchiest event you could ask for! We’ll be on the rooftop at Shiner’s Saloon again for a fun day of yoga, puppies, and charity! $25 gets you a 45 minute yoga class taught by certified yoga instructor Shelby Perkins, the chance to play with puppies from Austin Pets Alive!, and a free beer courtesy of theChive! Nulo Barkitecture Main Event
October 27 | from 12 to 4 p.m. | Barkitecture Austin, Contact Organization for Address
Barkitecture is a custom doghouse design show, contest, silent auction and, most importantly, a fundraiser! From its inception in 2005, Barkitecture has become an Austin favorite and gained national exposure. Hosted by Animal Lovers of Austin, Inc. (501(c)3), this architectural dog-centric event showcases prototype doghouses created by Austin’s best and brightest architects, interior designers, and builders. An event that’s fun for all ages, drawing in pooches and people alike, Barkitecture attendees and their dogs get to check out and bid on these one-of-a-kind doghouses, learn about adoption/animal advocacy opportunities, shop local vendor booths, take part in a costume contest, and do other fun activities!
