Austin Musician Shakey Graves Sends Special Message to Austin Graduates

Austin musician and AISD grad Shakey Graves has a message for this year’s AISD graduates. And since he couldn’t attend any of their graduation ceremonies, he recorded a video to share with everyone, thanks to Austin Ed Fund, Austin ISD’s nonprofit public education foundation.

In case you aren’t aware, Alejandro Rose-Garcia (aka Shakey Graves) is a born and bred Austinite. His stage name came about at Old Settler’s Music Festival in 2007 after he and his friends jokingly gave each other Native American guide names over a campfire.

And here’s another fun fact: Rose-Garcia was on “Friday Night Lights.” He played Julie’s beau “The Swede.”

We always love to see successful Austinites give back to the community. Thanks for taking the time to make this video for the class of 2020, Alejandro. You truly do rock!
