Banding Together – Austin Musicians Stream Live Concerts Online

To ensure the ATX remains The Live Music Capitol of the World, Austin musicians are taking to social media to stream live concerts for fans at home.

On Sunday night, Bidi Bidi Banda, Austin’s first all-star Selena tribute band, hosted a concert on Instagram and Facebook Live. With about 25,000 views so far, lead singer Stephanie Bergara told us that they learned a lot about how to improve the experience and will be planning more live stream shows. Viewers logged on from all over the states including New York and California as well as internationally from Argentina and Chile.

Fans were able to tip via multiple online cash transfer programs which helped pay the fees related to the performance.

“We made just enough to pay everyone in the band their standard performance rate,” Bergara said, “our manager who helped with the production, and to cover the rental of the room.”

The Guy Forsyth band is planning two online concerts this week. The first features Guy & Jess In The House, with the duo promising to take live requests and interact with comments during the performance. You can tune in via the band’s Facebook page on Wednesday, March 18 at 6 p.m. CST.

Then on Friday, March 20, they’re back with special guest Jackie Venson. You can tune into that show on the band’s Facebook page as well, starting at 6 p.m. CST.
