With so many bands playing in Austin its always hard to pick your favorites. This time, we’ve got it down. From Kacy Crowley, Doyle Bramhall II, and The Lovely Sparrows, hopefully we satisfied your local music craving this week. The Alice Rose
Forming in 1995 during junior high, musicians JoDee Purkeypile and Sean Crooks decided to form a band after discovering a mutual love of Nirvana. Naming themselves The Alice Rose, the band had a few years of success throughout Austin, before they decided to call it quits in 2011.
The American Analog Set
Formed in 1995, The American Analog Set are a folk lo-fi band. The band were featured on the soundtrack for the 2009 film The Time Traveler’s Wife.
Releasing their debut album in 1999, titled Homecoming’s March, Averse Sephira were a successful black metal band in Austin. After releasing four records, the group disbanded in 2012.Blasphomet Sin Abset by Averse SefiraDoyle Bromhall II
New England native Kacy Crowley lived all over the country before deciding to make the move to Austin where she kicked off her career by performing at open mic nights. She released her last record Liars and Saints in 2011.
After moving from Houston to Austin, Electric Touch signed to Justice Records where they recorded their self-titled album. After performing at music festivals all around the country, they released their LP Never Look Back in 2012 on Island Records.
The Lovely Sparrows
Formed in 2005, The Lovely Sparrows who perform folk music, released their debut album Take Your Hats Off You Godless Bastards in 2006. The group released their last record Tall Cedars of Lebonon in 2011.
Known for evoking the lonely feel of traditional country music through his soprano vocal range, Michael Fracasso has released six albums and got his start in the 1980’s in Austin.
