It’s no secret that Austinites love tacos! With so many great places to pick from we know it can get overwhelming. So we thought we’d make it a little easier for y’all by narrowing down our top favorite spots to get your taco fix.

Now let’s get to it! Here’s where to get your taco fix in Austin.

¡Vamanos!

4807 Airport Boulevard
With some of the best chips, salsa, and margaritas in town ¡Vamanos! is not to be missed! We suggest snagging a plate of their picadillo beef puffy tacos! They’re only served on Tuesdays and are freaking fantastic, especially paired with one of their prickly pear margaritas!

Lupe Tortilla

Arborwalk – 10515 N. Mopac Expressway Bldg. R.
When out-of-states come to Texas, we ALWAYS make sure to take them to one of our favorite Tex-Mex spots, Lupe Tortilla! We not only love this place for its ambiance, its free and abundant chips, salsa and bean apps, and creamy queso, but we also love it for… hold the phone, THEIR SIZZLING BEEF FAJITAS! These amazing lime-marinated fajitas are naturally gluten free, melt-in-your mouth goodness that comes to your table on a sizzling skillet with endless sides of shredded cheese, guacamole, pico and sour cream included. Insider tip: Not many people realize it, but they also have an amazing breakfast menu as well which includes our new favorite beef fajita breakfast tacos (pictured)!

Cyclone Anaya’s Tex Mex Cantina

3120 Palm Way, Unit 170
Cyclone Anaya’s is our go to spot for delicious Tex Mex bites in The Domain! They are currently following CDC guidelines to better protect staff and guests and even have an amazing expansive patio where you can enjoy a delicious socially distanced margarita. Pro Tip: During their Happy Hour, which runs Monday through Friday from 3 to 7 p.m., you can snag some their mini crispy beef tacos (pictured) for $4.95.

Pueblo Viejo

502 Brushy Street
Pueblo Viejo has been an Austin staple since 2010 and is home to some of our very favorite authentic Mexican street tacos, gorditas, and more. If you’re like us, and love a spicy Pastor with fresh pineapple, this one is not to be missed! Please note that their riverside location is currently closed due to the coronavirus. Our Fave Taco: Al Pastor on a corn tortilla topped with grilled onions, fresh pineapple and fresh cilantro.

Papalote Taco House

2803 South Lamar Boulevard | 3632 South Congress Avenue | 13219 Research Boulevard
This place never disappoints! With three locations around Austin, you can get your taco fix anytime. The South Lamar location recently opened a dining area and it’s fantastic. Tons of taco options, tortas, tostadas, and more with a handful of vegan options. And did we mention breakfast is served all day? Our Fave Taco: The Cachete – We like to keep it classic with the marinated beef cheeks topped with cilantro and onions. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Heads up — the verde sauce is SPICY.

One Taco – An Urban Taqueria

2900 West Anderson Lane, Suite K
Want to grab authentic Mexican tacos in Austin? Then be sure to head to one of the 4 One Taco locations in town! With handmade corn tortillas, creamy queso, fresh salsa and spicy Al Pastor always on deck, we know you will love this spot! Dolce Bacio

2207 East Cesar Chavez
Miss traveling? US TOO! Luckily Austinites can get transported to Italy just by indulging in a bite of traditional Italian gelato—right here in Austin! The amazing husband and wife duo behind Dolce Bacio are native Italians who have a true passion for providing our city with delicious artisan, made from scratch gelato! We suggest trying the Pistachio and the Stracciatella flavored dessert tacos. They are simply amazing! Pro tip: Gluten free diners rejoice, this waffle shell Dessert is gluten free! Woohoo!
