5 Places to Celebrate Batman Day in Austin

In celebration of Batman’s 75th anniversary, DC Entertainment is partnering with thousands of comic book retailers and bookstores across the nation to celebrate “Batman Day” on Wednesday, July 23, 2014.  Here are a few local spots where you can get in on the fun:

  1. Holy Storytime, Batman – Wednesday, July 23 at 11:00 a.m. Celebrate the caped crusader’s 75th anniversary with a special Batman storytime. Stay afterwards for fun activities! Feel free to come in a Batman costume. Schedule of events: 11:00 a.m. – Storytime; 11:30 a.m. – Storytime craft; 1:00 p.m. – Bat-stache craft (while supplies last); 2:00 p.m. – Batman costume contest judging.   2. Batman Day (Round Rock) – Wednesday, July 23, starting at 9 a.m. Celebrate the Caped Crusader’s 75th anniversary in store with bat mustaches, a Batman costume contest, Batman trivia contest, giveaways and more! Enjoy a special “Dark Knight” drink in the café and join a special Batman story time at 7:00 p.m. Plus, local cosplayers will be in the store dressed as DC Superheroes and Super villains throughout the day.   3. Teen Nerd Night: Batman – Wednesday, July 23 at 6:00 p.m. Get nerdy with Sci-Fi topics just for tweens and teens, ages 10-18. This week, celebrate Batman Day by making cool comic crafts. FREE! (Kids can also make a FREE Batman craft with Miss Dianne at 6 p.m. Tickets are available starting at 5:30 p.m. Kids under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult.) Wells Branch Library, 15001 Wells Port Dr, Austin.
  4. Batman Day at Dragon’s Lair Comics and Fantasy – Wednesday, July 23, starting at 9 a.m. Celebrate 75 years with DC’s caped crusader at Dragon’s Lair and meet and take photos with 1966 Batman! FREE promotional items will be available while supplies last, including Batman masks and capes.   5. Batman Day at Rogue’s Gallery (Round Rock) – Wednesday, July 23, starting at 10 a.m.  As part of the Batman Day festivities, fans will receive a free, special edition of DETECTIVE COMICS #27, featuring a reimagining of Batman’s 1939 comic book debut, designed by Chip Kidd with a script by The New York Times #1 bestselling author Brad Meltzer. In addition to the comic book, attendees will get free bookmarks featuring essential Batman graphic novels and one of four Batman masks designed by comic book artist Ryan Sook spotlighting a variety of the character’s iconic looks from his 75-year history.
