3rd Annual Ney Day on Saturday

elisabet ney museumSaturday, July 18, 2015, from noon to 5 p.m., the Austin Parks and Recreation Department’s historic Elisabet Ney Museum will host the third annual Ney Day! This free, fun, family-friendly event will commemorate Elisabet Ney, her art, her story, and her legacy, by celebrating women’s creativity.

Ney Day activities will include music, sculpting demos, food trucks, ices, hula hoopers, caricatures, technology activities, clay crafting, health screenings, bookmaking, tours of the museum and more. The musical lineup includes Yes Ma’am Brass Band, Naga Valli, Elizabeth McQueen and her band EMQ, and The Djembabes. Those attending this event are welcome to picnic on the grounds of the museum’s 2.5 acres.

“We’re always happy to welcome back the Austin community to one of Austin’s most unique cultural arts spaces,” said Oliver Franklin, Museum Coordinator. “We have big plans for the museum’s future with terrific activities and events that will make this wonderful historic facility spring to life.”

The museum, built in 1892, is located at 304 E. 44th Street. The museum’s hours are noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday. Admission is always free.
