2014 Dragon Boat Festival

The 16th Annual Dragon Boat Festival and Races return to Austin on Saturday, April 26, 2014.  Head to Festival Beach from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to watch 40-foot long boats recreate an ancient Chinese tradition on Austin’s beautiful Lady Bird Lake.  Before the races, watch the “Dotting the Eyes of the Dragon” ceremony, a symbolic ceremony to give the “vision” to the dragons, so that they will fly on water.

In addition to the races, this family-friendly, multi-cultural event offers cultural music and dance performances, martial arts demonstrations, Taiko Drums, Lion Dance, and a “Kids’ Zone” with special activities for children.

Admission to the Festival is free! Asian festival foods and souvenirs will be available for purchase.
