20+ Free “Don’t Miss” Events in June

It’s heating up in Austin, but luckily with the heat comes some cool events this June. Whether you’re kicking off the month with the Austin Emergency Center Summer Party (the free snow cones alone are hard to resist, but the rock wall and princess booth will keep you there all afternoon), or spending your evenings enjoying movies or ballet under the stars, you and your kiddos will be busy all month long.

 

Austin Emergency Center’s Anderson Mill Summer Party

The Austin Emergency Center is not only well known for saving lives and keeping people in the Austin community happy and healthy, their also pretty notorious for knowing how to throw a pretty great community party! Their latest will be a a summer kick-off event on June 2 at Austin Emergency Center – Anderson Mill. There guests can enjoy free food, snow cones, a princess booth, a rock wall, a DJ, prizes, and more. There’s no need to RSVP, just gather the family up and join them for a great time! FREE

Music In The Park
Friday, June 1 | from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. | Pfluger Park, 515 City Park Road
The annual Music In The Park outdoor concert series showcases a variety of live bands and one movie night on selected Friday nights. There’s no admission charge, so bring lawn chairs, pfurry friends, blankets, picnic baskets, friends and neighbors for a free evening of music, entertainment and relaxation. Alcohol is allowed, but no glass containers are permitted in the park. FREE!

Ballet Under the Stars

Please join Austin Metamorphosis Dance Ensemble as we close our season on June 1-2 (Rain Date June 3). We will present our annual event Ballet Under the Stars. Beginning just before sundown, this Austin tradition is fun for the whole family and a great way to kick off your summer. Audience will enjoy original works created by the resident artists that span a variety of dance styles. Whether it’s your first time at a dance performance or you are a seasoned patron of the arts, you will be amazed at the talent and creativity of our artists. During intermission the bucket is passed for donations and any amount is graciously accepted. Concessions are available. FREE!

Red Arena Round Up

It’s our 8th annual horse show! This FREE event welcomes the community to see how empowering horses can be. Bring the family to enjoy free kid games, petting zoo, mini horses, face painting & more. Shop our huge silent auction and fill up on yummy BBQ & snow cones while you cheer on the RED Arena Riders. Don’t miss your chance to bid on the George Strait VIP tickets which include a meet & greet! Donations support the programs and scholarships at RED Arena.

Children’s Day by Austin Polish Society

Please, join us for the 4th Austin Polish Society Children’s Day. We are planning lots of activities for children! Everybody is welcome! FUN AT THE POOL! Austin Black Pride 2018 Weekend Celebration

It’s that time of year again! June 5th through June 10th, the #ABPTeam, partnered with several other local organizations, is back for our 3rd annual Austin Black Pride celebration weekend!!! Austin Black Pride was recreated in 2016 with Queer People of Color in mind. The founders of ABP noticed that Austin was lacking experiences that catered to the unique needs of its Black LGBTQ+ community. ABP was not created to further divide, bash, or belittle non-Black LGBTQ communities; but to instead preserve our culture and history, while also celebrating the evolution of Black LGBTQ people. Austin Black Pride is a weekend of events that were created to highlight Austin’s Black LGBTQ community interests, talents, and culture, by any means necessary! FREE!

Welcome to Zumbini! Please wear comfortable clothes, feel free to bring water and snacks as needed for the little ones, and come to dance, sing, have fun and play! A Welcome Package will be provided to you along with the Volume I will be teaching for Spring Session: “Kalino Finds the Music”! Spring Session classes run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. They run for six weeks, skipping Memorial Day week (there will be no classes on May 29 and 31). Participants are welcomed to join for a FREE first class!

That’s My Face is a young adult film series.
June’s film is “A Strike and an Uprising (in Texas)” (2018) Directed By Anne Lewis. In 1938, Emma Tenayuca led 10,000 pecan shellers’ in a massive strike. In 1987, black women led a march of 3,000 through the streets of Nacogdoches. Experimental and contemporary, the film ends with the removal of the Jefferson Davis statue at UT-Austin. FREE

It’s Showtime: Outdoor Movie Night

Pola Negir- Talk and Film by Austin Polish Society

Family Clean Creek Camp
