Fruits and vegetables might not melt in your mouth like chocolate, but those purchased from farmers markets usually come so close they’ll make you want to hug a farmer. So why resist the urge? Summer is here and the markets are out in full swing, filled with local agriculturalists peddling fresh homegrown wonderfulness.
And for those months outside of the summer, most of these markets are open year-round. Added bonus: most of them are open rain or shine, giving you some outdoor activity options on those drizzly days when you want to show off your raincoat.
With these 13 different farmers markets throughout the greater Austin area, just think—you could hug a different farmer every day of the week!
1. Barton Creek Farmers Market
2017 marks the 20th year for the Barton Creek Farmers Market, which started in the Whole Foods parking lot in 1997.
