Special Events for National Farmers’ Market Week

Sustainable Food Center will celebrate National Farmers’ Market Week at all four SFC Farmers’ Markets this week, through August 8, 2015. The theme is “Love My Market.

SFC Farmers’ Markets will offer a host of activities this week to honor local farmers and ranchers, and to celebrate all that the markets have to offer. Visit SFC Farmers’ Markets this week for special sampling booths, kids activities, music, and the bounty of local farms and ranches. Here’s a taste of what you can expect:  

  • SFC Farmers’ Market East—Tuesday, August 4 from 3-7 p.m. Shoppers can sign a “thank you” card to local farmers, plus hear music from Huck Johnson and the Jacknives.
  • SFC Farmers’ Market at the Triangle—Wednesday, August 5 from 3-7 p.m. Taste the Place, a special sampling table featuring the best the market has to offer; sign a “thank you” card to show appreciation for local farmers and market vendors; live music from Dominique Garcia; and composting class by Austin Resource Recovery.
  • SFC Farmers’ Market at Sunset Valley— Saturday, August 8 from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller will speak at 10 a.m. on the importance of local food and farmers’ markets. In addition, there will be an abundance of local fruits and veggies, local meats and cheeses, and all sorts of delicious prepared foods. Plus, shoppers can have their photo taken in SFC’s farmers’ market photo booth.
  • SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown—Saturday, August 8, from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Check out SFC’s regular live music; cafe area; bounty of fruits, veggies, and prepared foods; and take part in a special Taste Off competition!
