Who Makes Your Favorite Drink In Austin?
From margaritas to mimosas to white Russians to whiskey sours, who in Austin makes the best version of your favorite cocktail?
This may or may not come as a shock to you, but Austin has quite a large number of drinking establishments. On 6th Street downtown alone, there are 837 different bars (we should have probably researched that beforehand). Everything from hole-in-the-wall gin joints to wine bars to microbreweries to fancy-pants lounges are available to enjoy all over town. Sometimes, however, you aren't looking to enjoy just any old drink. You have a specific cocktail in mind and, chances are, you know exactly who will make it the best.
Well, we want to know, too. So, here's what we're doing. Below you'll find a list of some of the most common drinks around. We'd like you to tell us what bar in Austin makes your favorite version of that particular drink and why. You don't have to name a bar for each drink, just the ones you like the most.
We're not looking for why you like the bar itself but why you like the way they mix the drink in question. Either leave your answer in the comments section below or send me an email here with the subject "Best Drinks In Austin".
We also encourage establishments in town to let us know why they think they have the best such and such drink and we hope they'll encourage their patrons to tell us as well.
We'll reveal the results on March 17th - St. Patrick's Day, coincidentally enough - so start letting us know now!
And now for the list, in no particular order:
Gin & tonic
Rum & Coke
Martini (any and all varsities)
Of course, there are dozens of other cocktails out there, but we don't want this list to last forever. So, we'll stick to these for now and maybe we'll cover some of the others in the future.
