Vocal Group Keeper Explores Jazz And R&B On New song ‘Dock’

Keeper, an Austin vocal ensemble with a synth pop sound, just released a new song titled “Dock” via Interview Magazine. The track is a preview of their upcoming EP, Corners, out on September 13. While it is difficult to categorize their sound because they touch on so many different genres, on “Dock” the group explores the genres of R&B and jazz, with a nod to great vocalists such as Erykah Badu — as Yadira Brown takes lead on the song, she sounds very reminiscent of Badu.

With a sad, slow bass line, the song’s jazz-influenced sound really showcases the vocal chops of each member, including group founders Brown and Erin Jantzen (and featuring Kate Priestley rounding out the live performances), tied together by the production skills of local producer Bird Peterson. With an innovative style and amazing talent, Keeper is not a band that Austinites should miss. If you’re going to the second weekend of ACL Fest this year, be sure to show them some hometown love on October 7 at 11:30am on the Miller Lite stage.

Check out “Dock” over at Interview Magazine.
