10 Perfect Places for Great Dates: North Austin Edition

North Austin and its associated territories gets a bum rap sometimes. People say it isn’t as hip as downtown or as weird as the south side. The abundance of chain restaurants and big-box stores is particularly a sticking point for some, but the fact is that northern Travis County and southern Williamson County have a laid back atmosphere all their own, and quite a few great date spots.

Next time you’re looking to take your hunny out, start with one of these…

10.) Catch a sugar rush at Round Rock Donuts

Have you ever eaten an orange doughnut? Well, maybe they’re yellow. It probably depends on the lighting inside Round Rock Donuts. They make their yeast-risen dough with fresh eggs, which gives them that distinct color. Of course, it’s the taste that’ll have your sweetie swooning.

Cedar Park Center is a great concert venue. There isn’t a bad seat in the house, and parking is no hassle. Of course, the place is so big they use it for lots more than just music. Cirque du Soleil, country singers, and classic rock bands are frequent headliners, but they also do sporting events.

8.) Make eyes at your sweetie over comfort food at Monument Cafe

The Monument Cafe is probably the best-known Georgetown restaurant as far as outsiders go, but locals love this place too. Order a filling meal and follow it with a dessert.

The heart of Georgetown still has the small-town feel that Austin lost long ago. Historic buildings are the norm for local businesses, and Wildfire is one of the most popular. This Georgetown restaurant serves high-end food that stands toe-to-toe with the best on offer in any big city.

5.) Take your darlin’ to Beer School

In addition to being a great place to eat and drink, North by Northwest has their own Beer School. Yes, they will actually teach you how to become the biggest beer expert you know. You will tour the brewery, taste ingredients, and learn about the major beer styles from around the world. Once you’re done with the class, you and your date might even want to volunteer for homework!

Top Golf has been sweeping the nation over the past few years. Austin’s location is as busy as any of them. Top Golf provides clubs, microchipped balls and an array of friendly competitions. You rent bays by the hour, and wait staff come by to take your food and drink orders. The best part: You don’t need to know how to golf to have fun here.

2.) Get your cajun food fix

Cajun food is distinct in flavor, yet so diverse in its dishes. That might explain why it’s so popular, and why Cajun food can be found all over the continent. Round Rock is no exception, with two spots in particular that will make any creole lover feel right at home. If you’re in the mood for gumbo, etouffee, jambalaya, or a po boy, head over to Louisiana Longhorn Cafe or Razzoo’s. Round Rock looks nothing like New Orleans, but your taste buds won’t be able to tell the difference.

1.) Treat your sweetie at one of The Domain’s finest restaurants
